FDI under the automatic route does not require prior approval either by the Government of India or the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Investors are only required to notify and file documents the regional office concerned of RBI.Hence statement 1 is correct.
Under the Government approval route, applications for FDI proposals were considered and approved by the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB). The Finance Minister has however the FM has announced abolition of the FIPB in his Budget speech this year. A clear policy outline is yet to be revealed.Hence statement 2 is incorrect |
